How-To Spotlight: Bleeding Your Brakes
People put a lot of effort into driving fast, but not enough into stopping. Brakes are important, and the lifeline is brake fluid.
Just as with all other fluids in your car, brake fluid needs to be changed in periodic increments. Forgoing this maintenance can lead to considerable issues down the road. Most importantly among them: not being able to stop. Fortunately, changing out brake fluid is not a difficult process, thanks to this week’s How-To Spotlight article. Likely the biggest challenge you may have is finding someone that can help you with a few minor steps along the way.
Who really knows why people go so long without performing this task. Some people evidently believe that the sealed brake system means that the fluid does not require changing. Some people simply do not know any better. Some are just lazy and refuse to make the time. It is likely that most people fall in to the latter of the examples, although one could hope that’s due to thinking it’s more challenging than it really is.
