Holy 707-Horsepower Hellcat Jeep!
Often times, I’ve secretly and publicly thanked those at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles that have allowed me to take home a Hellcat for testing/terrorizing the neighborhood. It’s something I’m grateful for, and something I want more of.
One thing I can’t imagine though, is grabbing the massive 6.2-liter supercharged engine and setting it back down inside a freaking Jeep-Wrangler! I mean, who thinks of this stuff? Well, it turns out a few people. More specifically Jeep, as they’ve already built a prototype Jeep Trailcat — but also the good folks at Dakota Customs, in, you guessed it, South Dakota!
The Jeep featured in the Dakota Customs video below is called the Dakota Cat. And it’s basically what dreams are made of. The holy marriage between both Mopar products seems to have been done perfectly, as the Jeep can be seen tearing up whatever terrain gets in front of it. Of course, not every single component was able to be swapped, so Dakota Customs employed a Walbro dual-fuel pump system, a high-end intercooler, and a CSF custom race radiator. Oh, and to make the Dakota Cat as mean as it drives, a lovely set of Borla headers.
While I’m sure the performance is beyond amazing, another thing that’s amazing is the price. For only about $100,000 bucks, you can take a 707-horsepower Hellcat Jeep home. I know what you’re thinking: that’s a crap-load of money! But think about it, a proper build can easily set you back 50k for the Jeep, plus another 20 to 30k in performance add-ons.
If you already have a Jeep, the swap alone starts at $56 grand. Not too shabby, eh?
