Hennessey HPE1000 Trackhawk Calls Out to Valhalla During Road Test

By -

Latest version of the behemoth upgrade takes the Trackhawk to the limit with a 4.5-liter blower bumping the power to over 1,000 horses.

Though Jeep is big on their off-road vehicles putting their Trail Rated stamp on the great outdoors, a few Jeeps prefer to leave a pair of black lines upon the asphalt, like the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The special Jeep combines all of the luxury expected from the Grand Cherokee with all of the power found under the hood of the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, resulting in an SUV capable of jumping to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, and clearing the quarter-mile in just under 12 seconds.

If you’re Hennessey Performance, though, this isn’t enough. Recently, the Texas tuner dropped their own take on the Trackhawk, in the form of the HPE1000. Through the magic of their YouTube channel, we get to see their latest and greatest undergo some validation testing before heading off to customers far and wide.

Whether you already have a 2018 through 2020 Trackhawk in your driveway, or are about to buy one off the lot, Hennessey will inject tons more power under the hood of the luxury Jeep. Upgrades include a boost-a-pump fuel pump, engine management and chassis dyno calibration, fresh set of gaskets and fluids to handle the jump in performance, and road testing to make sure it all works.

The centerpiece of the HPE1000 Trackhawk lays atop the 6.2-liter Hemi V8. Instead of the Hellcat’s 2.4-liter supercharger, Hennessey added a 4.5-liter unit to the party. The polished centerpiece delivers 14 psi of boost to the Hemi, resulting in a new output of 1,012 fire-breathing thoroughbreds and 969 lb-ft of torque. All of the power empties out onto the tarmac, pushing the SUV to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds before crossing the line at the end of the quarter-mile in 10.7 seconds at 132 mph.

The whole package sounds ferocious during the HPE1000 Trackhawk’s validation tests at Hennessey’s HQ, its roar thundering through the heavens to Valhalla, a great and powerful warrior making its mark on the earth below. There’s no doubt everyone will know you’re coming when you pull up to your local cars and coffee gathering.
