Hemi-Powered JK Wrangler Looks and Sounds Equally Wicked

Hemi-Powered JK Wrangler

Hemi-powered JK Wrangler is loaded with beefy parts that make it one of the best all-around builds we’ve seen.

Parts seller extraordinaire Extreme Terrain never fails to impress with its popular customer build series, but its most recent subject – this Hemi-powered JK Wrangler – might just be the best one yet. Owned by a fellow named Peter Newall from Texas, this wicked 2014 Wrangler has been heavily modified, but all for a purpose – Newall uses his rig for some serious off-roading, and also tows a teardrop trailer with it, too.

The modifications to this Hemi-powered JK Wrangler, as they often do, start underneath. There, Newall fitted the Jeep with a Dana 60 rear differential and a Dana 44 up front, with an ICON Vehicle Dynamics 4.50 to 6-Inch front coil-over conversion suspension system in the front and 2.5-inch shocks in the rear for towing purposes. A RockJock Antirock rear sway bar kit with forged arms and a RockJock Antirock front sway bar kit with forged arms and forged frame brackets wraps up the build underneath, while the whole thing rolls on a set of 601S Fuel wheels wrapped in meaty 37-inch BFGoodrich K02 tires.

“If you’re going to overbuild anything, overbuild your suspension,” is what a number of Jeep fans told Newall when he was planning his build, and that’s precisely what he did. Since the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 underhood added 300 pounds to the weight of the front end, Newall also had to put beefier springs up there, but now he reports that the Jeep handles both pavement and various off-road surfaces perfectly.

The mods didn’t stop there, however, and continue on the outside in a big way. First, a set of Amp Research PowerStep running boards aids ingress and egress, while a slew of aftermarket lighting illuminates the trails, including a KC HiLiTES 50-Inch Gravity Pro6 LED light bar, KC HiLiTES 2-Inch Cyclone LED lights, as well as a set of Deegan 38 fender flares with LED marker lights. That’s all capped off with a DV8 Offroad FS-13 hammer-forged stubby front bumper, DV8 Offroad RS-10 rear bumper, and both an ARB 12V twin on-board air compressor and an underseat Teraflex ARB air compressor for those times Newall needs to air down and back up again.

Throw in that rather powerful Hemi, and Newall might just have one of the coolest JK builds we’ve seen in some time. This Wrangler quite literally has it all, from the power to the looks and the capability, making it a truly great all-around build worthy of an Extreme Terrain feature.
