Our Friend Trey Spooner Needs Your Help
It’s terrible to see bad things happen to good people. Trey Spooner is more than “good people”; he’s one of the best out there. I got to meet Trey during our Rocks to Riches event back in November where a convoy of JK-Forum members trekked off road from Barstow, CA to Las Vegas, NV. Forum members from our sister sites Ford-Trucks.com and Yotatech.com were also part of the 11-strong convoy, and Trey was one of the Ford-Trucks guys who joined us on the memorable trip.
During that weekend, I found out first-hand Trey has a heart the size of the Power Stroke diesel in his Super Duty, so it’s no surprise the guy saves lives for a living — he’s an EMT. Above and beyond that, he’d like to take his services abroad to brighten futures for those living in developing countries. If you’d like to help Trey work in medical clinics and hospitals in underserved countries, there’s a GoFundMe page where you can donate to his cause.
Trey has a passion for the outdoors, off-roading, and he’s a photography fanatic. As you can see from the images I’ve placed throughout this article, Trey captured some amazing moments during our Rocks to Riches convoy. His knack for drawing with light makes the world more beautiful; that’s a fact as clear as his photography illuminating an Apple Retina display.
A young man as well-natured as Trey deserves all the recreation he can get, but that has recently been taken away from him. Last week all of his photography equipment went missing. A police report has been filed, local pawn shops have been briefed, but as cases like these usually go, Trey is unlikely ever to reunite with that missing equipment, and that’s just tragic.
But there can be a happy ending to this. I know when forum members join forces, amazing things can happen. Last year I covered a story where Corvette Forum members compiled their resources and transported a German shepherd puppy halfway across the U.S. to save it from euthanization because the original guardian thought the pup was “larger than expected”.
I’m certain JK-Forum members can compile their resources to help Trey. I’m friends with him on Facebook, so when I saw this news come across my feed this past weekend, I was disturbed, but then I thought to myself, “I know something good can come from this, and I hope it does.”
Let’s take this opportunity to show that when people come together, anything is possible, and we can turn this dollop of misfortune into a 1,500-lb payload of sunshine and lollipops. Here’s the link to Trey’s “Operation: Reboot” GoFundMe page. There you can assist him in generating funds for replacement camera equipment, and you’ll be helping a guy whose life is quite occupied with helping others.
