Hauk Designs Rock Rat Willys Jeep Is, in a Word, Badass
It’s okay, you can officially start drooling now.
If you’re like me, you probably started salivating the second you saw this sinister, post-apocalyptic take on a Willys Jeep. The brainchild of the team at Hauk Designs, the Jeep, dubbed the Rock Rat, not only features a badass design, but it also has the muscle to back up the look.
In fact, it’s got 700 horsepower, which comes courtesy of a Cummins inline six-cylinder diesel engine with a turbocharger that also packs a whopping 1,200 lb.-ft. of torque, as highlighted in a report by Maxim.
The impetus behind the build? “What would it be like to take a rock-crawling monster and mix it with rat-rod-styled Willys Jeep. That’s the Rock Rat,” says Kenny Hauk of Hauk Designs, as you can see in the video below.
The foundation for the Rock Rat started with a reproduced ’47 Willys CJ-2A body updated with a lot of modern features, including the VIAIR two-on-two onboard air system and 44-inch Pit Bull tires on B.A.D. beadlock wheels.
Yup, if George Miller, the director of Mad Max: Fury Road, has been looking for a cool vehicle as he plans a follow-up to the film, I think it’s safe to say the Rock Rat fits the bill.
