Grand Cherokee SRT Drag Run Proves Power Isn’t Always the Most Important Thing

Chances are, if you took bets on a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT paired against a 900-horsepower Lamborghini Huracan in a drag race, most would pick the Lambo.

Sure, we know there are some pretty badass Grand Cherokee SRT racers on the circuit. In fact, we’ve covered a fair share of ‘em here at JK Forum. Still, the odds would probably be much higher in favor of that Lamborghini, under normal circumstances.

But this race takes an unexpected turn, proving that one of the most important things in racing is control, regardless of how much power a car packs under the hood.

Apparently, the 900-horsepower twin-turbocharged Lambo loses its traction after launching. Which in turn leads to the car spinning out on the track after some 20 feet, as you can see in the video above.

Even crazier, had the Lambo spun out a split-second earlier, it likely would have hit the Grand Cherokee SRT in the other lane. But luckily, it appears as though both the Lambo and the Jeep avoided any damage during the race.

That said, word has it the Lambo (from the tuning team of Gosha Turbo Tech) is capable of running the quarter-mile in 9.0-seconds flat at 150 mph. There aren’t any specific best-run numbers provided on the Grand Cherokee SRT in the FCA Authority report where we found this. But if the Jeep’s numbers are anything close to those Lambo stats, it deserves some serious recognition.
