‘Cars’ Singer Gary Numan is Really a Jeep Lover
We randomly spotted the ’80s icon on the Sunset Strip. Of course, we had to check out his ride!
Every time that classic Eighties song “Cars” comes on the radio, we crank it up. Nothing is more fun than cruising around Southern California in our favorite ride listening to a catchy, retro anthem about cars.
So, imagine our surprise when we recently spotted the singer-songwriter behind the 1980 hit, Gary Numan, while strolling L.A.’s Sunset Boulevard the other night.
Of course, our first reaction was to check out what kind of car he owns. You know, the prized vehicle that he sings about, which makes him “feel safest of all” and “keeps [him] stable for days.”
We were kind of expecting to see something really badass and futuristic, maybe something that looks like it just rolled out of a Mad Max movie.
When the valet pulled up the car for Numan, who was attending an art exhibit opening on the world-famous Strip, we were a bit surprised, but duly impressed, too.
Like us, the “Cars” rocker is most happy in a Jeep! A huge, sporty, orange and black Jeep Wrangler JK, to be exact. A very cool ride, no doubt. However, we weren’t expecting to see it decked out in tiger print. It may be a good choice for “Mr. Tiger Blood,” Charlie Sheen, or maybe Siegfried or Roy.
Then again, while waiting for his ride to pull up, the British musician did spend some time checking out the Aston Martins in the gallery’s parking lot. However, although they are beautiful cars, he’s never gonna be able to fit his family of five into an Aston Martin. And, all things considered, Numan’s massive Jeep Wrangler JK is big enough to live in, which, according to “Cars,” was his main concern all along.
