Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Phone Sets Jeep on Fire
We never would have expected a Jeep would make its way into this kind of story, but clearly anything is possible in a new era, where technology seems to be tied to anything and everything, good and bad.
Fortunately, in this case, the bad doesn’t lie at the hands of Jeep, or that no one was hurt in the incident. Which I’m sure was a sigh of relief for top brass at the company, given all the recall issues they’ve had to deal with in recent months.
Nevertheless, even if the car’s not at fault, the idea of a Jeep being at the center of this controversy surrounding a Galaxy Note 7 catching on fire is still the kind of PR the company would prefer to avoid.
But no such luck. As you can see in the FOX 13 News report below, a Florida man was apparently charging his Galaxy Note 7 in his Grand Cherokee when the phone suddenly caught on fire, setting other parts of the Jeep ablaze.
Samsung is reportedly looking into the Jeep incident involving the phone, which is under recall due to battery malfunctions with the device. And I’m sure Jeep has been forced to field a few calls, as well. But I imagine it can’t get sorted out fast enough for that Grand Cherokee owner, or the folks at Jeep who now find the nameplate tied to another fiasco.
