FCA Delays Cause Massive Problems for New Jeep Debuts
According to multiple sources throughout the auto industry — including TTAC, Business Insider, and Reuters — FCA Corporate has delayed almost all of its new product lineup debuts indefinitely. This delay means that dozens of new vehicles that were set to make their debut in the next few years are now on hold.
Reuters stated that the Jeep division of FCA has been most affected by this delay, with insiders citing the high-profit margin of SUVs like the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. FCA is apparently nervous about its potential revenue stream drying up due to the redesigns. Suppliers for FCA have come out and stated that there have been countless last minute design changes, last minute engineering issues, and hundreds of other small issues that further delay the new vehicles.
Due to these delays, it’s looking increasingly likely that the forecast FCA shared last year, about when its new models would appear, won’t actually reflect reality. With almost all of the redesigns being pushed back anywhere from six months to a full year. What this means then is that FCA’s product line is going to begin to look quite dated, quite soon.
