Edelbrock’s E-Force Blower Gives Your JK Wrangler a Massive Power Boost
Iconic performance parts manufacturer Edelbrock turns your JK Wrangler into a hot rod with their new supercharger kit.
The JK Jeep Wrangler was an astounding success, selling like hotcakes and continuing to fuel our love affair with the iconic nameplate. But while the JK Wrangler is obviously a highly capable off-roader right out of the box, it won’t exactly win you any drag races. Newer models like the 2012-2014 are better than Jeeps in the old days, of course. But the 3.6-liter’s output of 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque won’t elicit any thrills when you stomp on the go pedal.
Thankfully, legendary performance parts maker Edelbrock has a simple solution for that problem. Their E-Force Supercharger system is a comprehensive setup that adds serious power to your JK Wrangler. How much, you ask? Well, a manual-transmission-equipped JK put down 317 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. And an automatic returned a slightly less but still impressive 303 hp and 262 hp, due to higher parasitic drivetrain loss.
A stock 3.6 would be lucky to lay down 220 hp at the wheels, so that’s obviously a massive gain. And the great thing about Edelbrock’s E-Force kit is that it doesn’t require a ton of work to install. The supercharger fits under the stock hood with no problem, and it’s designed to be a clean and simple installation. And unlike most superchargers out there, you won’t have to sacrifice reliability. Edelbrock is so sure of its product that it offers a free three-year, 36,000-mile warranty with each E-Force kit.
Of course, that’s easy to do when you’re working with top notch parts. The heart of the E-Force JK Wrangler system is an Eaton Gen VI 1320 TVS Supercharger. It features a four lobe design with 160 degrees of twist for maximum flow, minimum temperature rise, and quiet operation. Edelbrock also designed the E-Force with an integrated bypass valve. This helps eliminate parasitic loss under light throttle application. That in turn improves fuel economy. At least when you’re not trying to outrun that muscle car next to you at the light.
Heat soak is another big problem for superchargers, but Edelbrock thought of that, too. They equipped the E-Force kit with a high capacity air to water intercooler and low temp heat exchanger to keep things as cool as possible under the hood. And their unique inlet configuration design results in a shorter, less restrictive intake path for improved airflow as well.
Edelbrock even includes its own calibration with the E-Force kit, which makes this a truly all-inclusive system. They’ve been making go-fast goodies since 1938, so it’s safe to say that they know what they’re doing. So if you’re looking to add serious power to your JK Wrangler without making a ton of compromises, you’d be hard pressed to find a better way to do it than the E-Force!
