Dealership Claims Misuse of Jeep Led to Anton Yelchin’s Death
The California dealership that sold actor Anton Yelchin the Jeep that his family claims is responsible for the star’s death is vowing to fight the claim.
In court documents, the dealership claims that Yelchin’s “misuse” of the Grand Cherokee resulted in his death, according to a report by People. “All products produced by the defendant were in conformity with the existing state-of-the-art, and as a result, this defendant’s products were not defective in any manner,” the documents submitted by the dealership go on to state.
The dealership also claims that Yelchin’s parents didn’t properly handle the Jeep following the accident, which compromised evidence that could be used to determine where the fault really lies in the actor’s death.
Considering it’s widely known the Jeep was under recall for the faulty gearshift Yelchin’s parents claim is responsible for his death, this all seems a bit confusing. But know that you’re not the only one trying to make sense of all this. We’ll certainly be following closely to see how it plays out.
