Dash Cam Catches Wrangler Thief’s Attempted Getaway

Would-be car thieves might want to think twice about stealing a vehicle after hearing this report of a 2015 Wrangler owner who was recently carjacked in Kansas. Well, at least they should.

The car thief, who likely thought he was making a clean getaway after taking the Jeep at gunpoint, was actually being taped by a dash cam that the Wrangler owner had mounted in the vehicle, which turned on as soon as the Jeep’s ignition was started.

“He picked the wrong person because of how well I was equipped for it,” said the Jeep owner, as highlighted in the KWCH12 report below.

The dash cam captured the thief, a 16-year-old, speeding through a park and on city streets. At one point, he’s taped reaching a speed of 94 mph before crashing into a pole and trying to flee the scene.

“… All I could think of was the people he passed,” said the Jeep owner, who wanted to remain anonymous. “If he would’ve made one move wrong, he could have been on charges for manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, whatever it may be.”

We’re happy to hear no innocent bystanders were hurt over this ordeal, which unfortunately, is a lot more than we can say for the Jeep.
