Custom JL Wrangler Worth Nearly $80K…Wait, What?

Custom Jeep JL Wrangler

JL Wrangler packs a lot of goodies on the surface and under the hood. It’s cool, but we’re skeptical of its ‘Lamborghini’ provenance.

The JL Wrangler is almost universally beloved, and with good reason. It seamlessly furthers Jeeps’ off-roading heritage while incorporating the latest technology. And, like all great Jeeps, it’s infinitely modifiable. And while it’s only been on the market for a little over a year, we’ve already seen some incredible builds. We’ve also seen some… let’s say head-scratchers. We recently came across this tough-looking green Wrangler Unlimited, and frankly, we’re not sure where this one lands.

On the one hand, it looks great. Offered by Driving Emotions of Lake Park, Florida, its body is Rhino-lined in a very cool matte green. It has custom wheels with 37″ tires, power running boards, a winch, custom lighting, and a whole lot more. The suspension has been upgraded with BDS Adjustable control arms and a Fox 4.5-inch suspension kit. Braking is handled by a Baer Big Brake kit with orange calipers.

But wait, there’s more!

Inside, there are brass knuckle-shaped grab handles, LED under dash lights, a custom sound system, alarm system, and probably more that aren’t even mentioned in the boilerplate dealer ad. The seats are “Lamborghini Orange” leather. But last time we checked, Lambo doesn’t do upholstery; it just looks like a nice quilted leather job to us.

Under the hood is a Pentastar V6, but it gets forced air through an SPS Stage 2 supercharger system. A Magnaflow exhaust makes it sound good and helps it breathe easier.

Now here’s the kicker: Would you pay $77,000 for this Wrangler? On the one hand, a lot of work clearly went into it. It’s almost certainly quick, and it probably draws a crowd wherever it goes. But 77 g’s is a lot of money for a Wrangler. It’s likely that it won’t spend much time off-road. And, we’re a still a little confused by the advertised “Lamborghini” seats. Last we heard, FCA and Lambo severed ties back in the early ’90s.

We’re not going to pass judgment on this top-to-bottom custom Wrangler. But there is a lot to mull over, to debate, to ponder. One the one hand, paperwork included in the listing looks like the JL cost $68k to build this way. That’s on top of the sticker price. But it was built by someone to their taste, driven for a while, then sold to a dealer. If you had the means, you could just buy a JL, option it the way you want, and if you could save on labor and do the work yourself, mod it your way.

Either way, it’s a cool Wrangler. We’re hoping it goes to a new owner who will give it the love it deserves.
