Custom Jeep JK Pulls Off One Insane Decline

Agility Customs Jeep mod is believed to be the first street-legal, rear-steer JK.

The insane off-road capabilities of a Jeep certainly come as no surprise to those of us here at JK-Forum. And yet, we still often find ourselves in utter disbelief when watching a Jeep pull off a feat like the one featured in a recent Top Gear video.

Agility Customs – Custom Vehicles 1000

The clip, originally posted on YouTube by ViralHog, shows a JK seeming to defy every law of gravity known to man, as it inches down the side of the famous steep rock in Utah known as “The Chute.” At one point, it looks as if the JK is actually being suspended from the top of the cliff, sitting with it’s nose completely perpendicular to the ground below.

In fact, it could be one of the craziest JK descents we’ve seen in years, which says a lot, given some of the amazing off-road clips we’ve featured here in the past. That said, this amazing Jeep feat is largely credited to a rather unique modification.

The custom Jeep, fabricated by the team at Agility Customs, is touted as the world’s first street-legal, rear-steer JK.

To create the vehicle, Agility Customs chopped off the JK’s front fascia, swapping it out for the face of a 1960s Kaiser Jeep M715. To give the Jeep its rear-steering capabilities, the modifiers cut out the vehicle’s rear bench and made it into a pick-up. That enabled all the rear axles, hydraulics and wheels on the Jeep to function much as they would on the front end of a JK.

Other specialty features of the JK include one-ton axles in the front and rear, 40-inch tires fitted with 20-inch beadlock wheels, and double-triangulated four-link suspension with coilovers for better maneuverability in tight situations.

It appears that the videotaped descent was done to showcase Agility Customs’ fabricating capabilities, in hopes of generating more buzz about the Utah-based shop. Needless to say, it clearly delivers on that goal.
