Wrangler Owner Says Colorado Needs Jeep Wave
Popular Jeep tradition continues to lose ground with new generation of owners.
As much as we would like traditions to be immortal, oftentimes they’re defeated by time’s relentlessness. It’s simply a fact of life: as traditions pass down from one generation to the next, they run the danger of losing their luster.
One Jeep owner isn’t having any of that. She’s made it her mission to preserve a part of Jeep’s heritage that we’ve come to love here at JK-Forum. That tradition is none other than the legendary Jeep wave. It’s somewhat ironic that the place where she’s felt the need to take up this personal call to action is aimed at her home state of Colorado. The Centennial State has a longstanding history with Jeep.

According to the virtuous Coloradoan by the name of Dawn, her state is in dire need of a lesson on the Jeep Wave’s significance. Yes, Colorado. Sounds hard to believe, right? But as captured in an NBC 9 News report where we first picked up on the story, Dawn might very well have a point.
With a cameraman on hand, the report shows Dawn making several attempts to elicit a Jeep wave from other Jeep drivers, yet she had to struggle to get anyone to respond.
“There are a lot of people who either don’t know about it, or don’t do it,” Dawn told 9 News.
Of course, we’ve covered the slow demise of the Jeep wave here on JK-Forum a number of times, due in large part to the growing number of new and younger car buyers now opting for Wranglers. While we see no clear way to stem this discouraging tide, we certainly appreciate Dawn’s tenacity to keep the tradition alive.
