Chrysler to Ship Parts for Recalled Jeeps by Late Summer
If you’ve been antsy waiting for word of when those fixes for fuel tanks might be ready for those recalled 1993-98 Jeep Grand Cherokees and 2002-07 Jeep Libertys, good news: the Chrysler Group has begun manufacturing the trailer hitch assemblies designed to protect the fuel tanks, and plans to get them to dealerships by late summer.
The announcement of the fix is welcomed news for nearly 3 million Jeep owners who have been anxiously awaiting resolution to the issue, which reportedly has been linked to fires from high-level crashes.
To fix the problem, the hitch assemblies will be mounted on three sides around the gasoline tanks to help project the tanks in crashes, says Chrysler.
Here’s hoping this thing is finally coming to an end, so that those Jeep owners are safe on the road.
