Another Day, Another Crazy Dead Hood Ornament Jeep Photo

Just yesterday we spent some quality time discussing the curious case of the Jeep Cherokee with a dead tiger shark strapped to its grille. But miraculously, today’s dead hood ornament is even weirder.

The Sequin Gazette in Texas posted the photo above to their Facebook page, along with the caption, “The things you see on IH10 driving through Seguin…”

A 200-pound deer hanging upside down off the front of a Jeep is either a compelling or appalling sight, perhaps both. Either way, the caption would suggest this type of thing doesn’t occur on the regular in Texas. See, usually all the dead animals are strung up differently than this.

Which leads to the question: just how the heck did this Jeep driver get the deer to stand up so straight? Is that rigamortis at work?

Turns out it’s not. 70-year-old hunter Bob Wuest explained his method to the Gazette: “I’m very active, but picking up a 200-pound buck is pretty hard… [My friend] and I came up with this idea; It’s a 205-pound Warn winch, which is basically an electric winch hooked up to the battery. It has pulleys on top, so I can pull up to 2,500 pounds.”

Regardless of the presentation, you have to admit, that’s pretty darn ingenious. Though it’s probably not great for your visibility.
