JL Style Front Fender Flares

MP Concepts offers an easy to install kit that will update the look and functionality of your older JK Wrangler.

We love the JK Wrangler. In fact, we named our forum after it. The JK was built from 2006 until early 2018. And over 2 million JKs were made during that time. It was extremely popular when new and still popular today. However, time moves on and even the newest JK is now 6 years old. When the JL was launched it still had that classic Wrangler look but there were quite a few subtle changes that made the new Jeep stand out from the older model. The front fender flares are one of the more obvious design changes. The good news is that if you like this newer style fender flare, it is easy to get that same look thanks to a kit offered by MP Concepts.

A video was recently posted on the ExtremeTerrain Jeep YouTube channel that details everything that is included in the JL style front fender flares kit. The video also includes a full step-by-step installation guide for anyone that already has or may be considering this kit. The kit currently retails for $654.99 and can be found HERE.

One of the highlights of this kit is that it comes with LED turn signals and marker lights in front. Both lights sit behind a smoked lens for a stealthy look. Some wiring will be required to complete the installation but a plug and play wiring harness is included with the kit. The flares themselves are made from an OEM quality polypropylene (PP) material. The flares are both lightweight and durable. They are finished in a smooth matte black. However, they are paintable should you desire to have them color matched to the body color of your Jeep. Or any other color you should desire. These flares are designed to fit 2007 – 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK models.

Installation

post install

Installation of the MP Concepts JL style front fender flares kit is straightforward and should only take about two hours with basic hand tools. You will need a ratchet with a 10 mm socket, wire strippers/crimpers, and a Phillips head screwdriver. You are also going to need a male and female spade connector and/or T-Taps. These electrical connectors are not included with the wiring harness kit. Once you have everything you need you will start by disconnecting the side marker light. From there you are off and running. There is no cutting or drilling required, the Jeep doesn’t need to be on a lift or anything. The overall process is really quite simple.

Before and after fenders

When you are all done, you will have a more modern looking Jeep Wrangler. It will also have some additional functionality thanks to those LED turn signals and marker lights. This kit is not going to turn your Jeep into a King of the Hammers champion. However, if you are looking for an updated look for a reasonable amount of money this would be a great solution.
