Snow Stranded XJ Jeep

California State Police Say the Abandoned XJ Will Likely Stay in Place Until the Snow Melts

Here’s hoping things don’t get this rough for Jeep owners braving that winter storm in the Northeast right now.

After all, the chances that any vehicle could survive this kind of pressure unscathed are pretty much slim to none. See, this Jeep lies buried under 20-feet of snow in Serene Lakes, California, near Donner Summit.

As detailed in a Jalopnik report, the California Highway Patrol say the XJ was abandoned by the driver on the shoulder of the road. And then it got covered over by a snowplow. Apparently, more than once. And sometime later, another snowplow came along and damaged the Jeep’s rear bumper and hatch.

Authorities suspect that the Jeep has been buried there most of the winter. They have no plans to excavate the thing anytime soon, either, since it’s not blocking the road.

We certainly can’t imagine anyone is racing to claim the Jeep now, considering the kind of damage already done.

Of course, it does make you think that the driver couldn’t have been a die-hard Jeep fan. None of you fine JK Forum folks would leave your XJ abandoned on the road to meet such a lonely fate, right?

Then again, if faced with the decision of saving your Jeep or fleeing for safety, most would probably opt for the latter. As well you should.
