The V6 engine will be manual transmission only, a new nostalgic color debuts, and roll-up windows are no more.

As the 2025 model year Jeep Wranglers are gearing up to hit showroom floors, additional details about the latest iteration of this modern classic are starting to surface. Perhaps the biggest news is that the venerable naturally-aspirated V6 engine will no longer be paired with an automatic transmission. That’s right, fans of the 3.6-liter Pentastar will have to row their own gears in order to get one.

If you’re not skilled in driving with a third pedal, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is available with an automatic. However, that pairing will set you back an extra $2,500 on all trim levels except for Sahara. As well, the Wrangler 4xe and Rubicon 392, where the 2.0-liter four banger isn’t available, come with a standard automatic transmission.

Adios to hand-cranked windows

In other news, power windows and power door locks are now standard on all Wranglers for 2025, even at the most basic Sport trim level. Until now, the Wrangler was the only vehicle sold in America still available with hand cranked windows and manual locks. As far as your author is concerned, good riddance. In the past, I’ve turned down great deals on Wranglers because locking and unlocking doors manually is insane in this day and age. Plus, the aftermarket kits to retrofit these conveniences always seemed a little janky.

2025 Wrangler prices are both higher and lower

After several years of blazing price increases, it’s nice to know that 2025 Wrangler prices are roughly equivalent to their 2024 counterparts. That said, the base Sport models are $695 more expensive than last year. So those power windows are door locks aren’t free after all. That brings the least expensive Wrangler, a two-door Sport model, to $34,585 including destination charge. On the other hand, a four-door 2025 Wrangler in Sport S trim is $395 less expensive than its 2024 counterpart.

Finally, a new exterior color is available, known simply as “41.” Jeep premiered the 41 hue on a concept vehicle (featured above) at the 2022 Easter Jeep Safari. Now, you can have your own JL in this military-esque olive drab green. Just not with a V6/auto and wind-up windows.
