You’re excited about the next-gen Jeep Wrangler, but does that excitement fade after a $3,000 price hike?

After a decade of waiting not-so-patiently, Jeep fans can finally look forward to the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL rolling into showrooms early next year. However, along with a stunning new redesign will be a considerable price hike.

The base price of the two-door Sport will start at $28,190, an increase of almost $3,000 from the previous JK model. The price has been bumped up in part due to the $1,195 destination charge, which ranks as one of the highest charged by any automaker.

The increase in price does not translate to a base Wrangler loaded with standard features. Buyers will still have to pay extra for options such as power windows and locks, remote keyless entry, and air conditioning.

The base powertrain is a 3.6L Pentastar V6 offering 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The new 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is also available. This fuel-efficient, mild-hybrid system offers 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

The pricing for Wrangler trim levels are as follows: Wrangler Sport 2-door $28,190, Wrangler Rubicon 2-door $38,190, Wrangler Unlimited Sport 4-door $31,690, Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4-door $38,540, Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4-door $41,690.

Based on JK-Forum‘s experience with the Wrangler we’re still pretty confident that buyers will pay extra for the new, killer, adventure-ready ride.
