2016 and 2017 Jeep Wranglers Hit With Recall
There’s just no escaping it, friends. So, get used to it. Recalls are now a way of life, even when it comes to those beloved new Wranglers, which is one of the latest victims in this new world of vehicle callbacks.
The Jeep recall includes 225,000 Wranglers from the 2016 – 2017 model years potentially affected by faulty airbag systems. More specifically, the notice states that a sensor wiring in the SUVs could malfunction and keep the air bags from deploying, according to a Reuters report.
Of the 225,000 Wranglers, roughly 183,000 are in the U.S. and 18,000 in Canada. There’s another 3,100 of the at-risk Wranglers in Mexico, with the remaining 21,000 scattered about in markets outside of North America.
To date, FCA says there have been no reports of any injuries, crashes, or consumer complaints due to the possible defect. FCA encourages the affected Wrangler owners to contact their local dealership, who will fix the problem free of charge.
