1,000-HP V8 Wrangler Visits Hoonigan for Intense Tire Destruction
Only a supercharged LSX would make 40-inch tires seem too small as this JK Wrangler proceeds to obliterate them with ease.
You know that we like to bring you the most unique and interesting builds here at JK Forum. Thankfully, there is this thing called the internet where anybody can post just about anything they want and we get to see it to. This is one of the occasions that we are so happy that the internet exists. Seeing this Wrangler wouldn’t really be the same if we had to read about it in a newspaper.
It seems the kids over at Hoonigan always have the wildest builds come visit them. Maybe it’s something with the brand name or image, if we had to guess. Luckily, one of the recently featured wild builds is Adam Maloney of Denton Racing‘s very custom JK Wrangler. Thanks to the Hoonigan YouTube channel, we get to see what exactly is going on with this crazy Jeep.
Maloney has brought out his 2009 Jeep Wrangler to the Hoonigan Burnyard in Irwindale, California. Very immediately, you will notice that this Jeep is far from stock. It might have to do with the 40″ tires, but we’ll get into that later. The thing is, the most outlandish part of this JK is what can’t immediately be seen. It features a Mass Motorsport 428ci LSX V8 with a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger on top of it. That’s good for about 930 wheel-HP at 15 pounds of boost according to the owner. We aren’t sure the last time we needed 1000 HP out of a any vehicle, but here it is on a 2009 JK Wrangler.
There is quite a bit of custom work to get the V8 to fit in the JK Wrangler engine bay especially with the addition of the supercharger. However, every inch of space is used efficiently and effectively to get the packaging to be just right. You might thing because of the complexity of this swap that there was some compromise with the factory components, however, the stock Jeep instrument cluster, AC, you name it, all work completely perfect. The Jeep has retained all its factory functionality and we find that damn impressive.
While we would like to go into the honestly ridiculous amount of work and detail that has gone into this build, we think it’s best explained by Maloney himself in the video. So if this built interests you or you just want to see some fat 40-inch tires get destroyed, please watch the full video!
