I vote we spend the remaining stimulus money on putting this guy over at Chryser/Fiat to run the Jeep division.

They are constrained by the politics of the corporations, the executives and the product managers.
Besides turbine engines have a whole set of design and logistic challenges of their own just like electric motors.
Although the idea of filling up with JP-4 jet fuel does conjure up some interesting images like leather helmets, googles and a scarf around the neck blowing as we go "flying" down the road in a JK with the top and windshield down red baron style.

I remember seeing one of the Chrysler turbine cars drive by when I was kid. It was in Portland, Maine.
I was in Deering Oaks Park, and heard a whirring sound, looked up and there it was. I knew what it was because I had a 1/25 scale model of it.

I've contemplated jacking a engine from a learjet or maybe a G-V from work to install on the JK. Figured roof mount, but I think either one would eat my hat in a heartbeat with the freedom panels off. Joking aside, I understand how turbine engines work but have to ask how it would be made safe and practical for automotive applications. Are there low fan speed turbines geared more towards torque?

cheers to that.
