IV got a Cobra 18 running into a Cool Tec Ultra antenna mount mounted in mine and it works ver nicely.
After I installed it, I did a radio check and got a good report from about a mobile about five miles from my driveway.
Iv also got a couple of Cobra 25 on a shelf in the garage. I was thinking about changing to it but I like having
the weather channels.
Here is a pic of the install.
Thinking about remounting from the counsel to a ARR radio mount.
I dont think the one your thinking about is any bigger than the 18.
Hope this helps.

I like mine, plus they're 'modable'
I had a string of cheapies that never seemed to work right. This one works.
99% of the time the mic is under my seat and its pretty much outa sight outa mind.

I had the 75 that everyone seems to have around here, I didn't like it either.
So I bought a Cobra 25 with NightWatch. weather channels, etc (Cobra 25 WX NW ST). If you plan on using it at night, I'd suggest you get one with the Night Watch, it looks pretty nice lit up. Weather channels I can take or leave, but again, nice to have.
I got the 25 instead of the 29 because I found the 29 to be a little bit big, and I already had an SWR meter, so I had no need to be able to check the SWR on the radio.
Finally, I found the 25 on Amazon for just over 100$USD, I paid a heck of a lot more than that for the 75.
I'd say go for it!

Basically WOL had a writeup on how to install a CB in that position. I followed that, but the 29 is too big and it bounced around too much.
I went a little drastic after that and most people will not do the same thing. I removed the top cover of the CB and drilled a couple holes in it. Then I matched those holes on the plastic Jeep header. Then I mounted the cover directly to the header. That worked better but still not quite good enough. Finally I took the supplied mounting bracket from cobra and welded a little tab to it that hooks around the center strap loop of the Jeep. That's what made it good to go.
