I have this radio. Got it from Walcott with a tune up. Works great! Truckers think I'm on a radio with an amp. Speaker is much louder than you would think too.

speaker works ok, but I ran an external speaker and put it closer to my head - now I can hear really well without having to blast it. Really depends on where you mount it, but its a solid cheapy cb.

Default Thanks for the info guys.

Lately I have been thinking more toward the Cobra handheld model.

I use a 520XL for comms with CB'ers in my trail groups and it works well. After having had the large frame Galaxy's and Cobra's it cant compare but Uniden makes a good, solid, cheap radio. Plus if it gets stolen I'm only out $35 at Fryes.

Thats what I ended up going with. I was pretty much dead set on the Uniden 520xl, but at the last minute I decided I like the size and compactness of the Cobra 75. I could have gone cheap, and I know these Uniden's are damn fine radios, but the Cobra won at the end of the day. Plus I like that it can be locked away and hidden to avoid theft.

Default Fill the Need

Ya gotta get what works for you! For me, the CB is basically for talking car to car so I don't need very much. I also have a dualband VHF/UHF ham radio for longer ranges. If Jeepers didn't use CB's I wouldn't have it at all since the antennas are a PITA.
