0 offset would mean that the mounting surface of the wheel that touches the hub is exactly in the center of the wheel - not any closer to inside than outside.
4.5 backspacing, means that it is 4.5" from inside lip of the wheel to the mounting surface that mates to the hub.
So in this case, since the backspacing is 4.5", and the offset is exactly at 0" which is dead center in the wheel, I quickly deduce that the wheel is 9" wide!
