Default Okay, I have a Diesel JK....

I need some opinions here. I bought a Rubi Unlim. JK from a fellow around 5 months ago. He did the conversion, and he works for Jeep/Mopar.

    It has:

2.8L RA 428 DOHC VM Motori Turbo 4 cyl Diesel.

    6 spd Manual

The Rubi 44's w/ Factory lockers which can be used in 4high. Stock 4:10's

3" BDS Springs w/ Full Traction Shocks (which i think are all made by Edlebrock)

    JKS Quik Disco's

    TeraFlex Adjustable Trac Bars f/r

Jeeperman Front Bumper with Warn M8000

    Jeeperman Rear Bumper/Tire Carrier

    Factory SAHARA 18's w/ 35x12.5x18 Toyo MT's (5)

Factory Nav Unit, Weathertech floor mats, Hardtop, etc.

    15,000 Miles

I am confused on what to do. I really love the JK, and LOVE the diesel, but having owned 5 different CJs, 2 Rubi TJs, 1 Rubi LJ (which I loved)... I'm getting the urge to do one of 3 things:

    1. Change coils to 4", go to 37's. (The diesel ignores the fact I have 35's... I could change gearing, but honestly, it wouldn't notice 37's either)

    2. Sell the JK Diesel and buy a Rubi TJ again (sorry guys, I loved the one I had)

    3. Or just save the dough, and leave it the way it is.

If I did the coil change, with wheels/tires, I'd be spendiing roughly $4k after getting the ones i wanted. If I sold the JK, and bought a Rubi 2dr JK or TJ.... I could prob. make enough off of the sale to pay cash for whatever I wanted (within reason.) Leaving it the same, will just eat at me.. If I keep this one, 37's are the key on a 4dr, IMO.

I owe about 25k on the one i have, which is no issue, but the thought of selling it for what I could prob get temps me to do so, and buy another to build. I have ALWAYS been a fan of older Jeeps, and still love the TJ Rubis.

Sorry for the rant.... Opinions Please!!

A few pics of my JK Rubi, and the LJ I had:

    Thanks in advance,

If you are so happy with the diesel, I don't understand why you are considering getting rid of it. For many many many of us the biggest complaint about our JKs is the engine.

I owned a TJ and I could see why you might want to go back, depending on the type of wheelin' you do. But you are also considering just adding 37s, which seems pretty easy because the diesel won't cough up a piston or two like it might gasoline cousin.

To tell the truth, I have just always loved the swb TJ, YJ, and CJ-7 platform. Don't get me wrong, the 4dr has it's REAL advantages, but it's almost TOO nice for me. The compactness, and simplicity of a swb TJ Rubi is perfect for my needs, and I could build one with cash for what I could make selling the one I have. I know it's a nice problem to have, but it's the way I feel nontheless. My Jeep is my pride and joy, no matter which one I own. I have a little Chevy Colorado 4cyl for my work, so my Jeep is a 2nd vehicle. I love all Jeeps, but really have the urge to go back to a TJ Rubi. I love the inline 6 with 4:88's and 35's. Nothing compares to the diesel (22 mpg) except maybe the Hemi swaps, but the diesel is much more unique than the Hemis.

Trim the fenders and put 37's on the beast... Then call it a day! If that isnt quite enough, you could toss some .75" or 1.75" coil spacers to stop the rub, or go with longer bumpstops.

I think you just answered your own question. You've got a great JK, but you prefer the TJ. Nothing wrong with that. It's all in the Jeep family.
