Default Install of Clarion NX-509 - DONE WITH PICTURES TO PROOVE IT!!!

    ******POST EDIT******

For those that have been following along with the "Install From Hell" for the past THREE months, here is the final outcome of what it looks like. Thanks to EVERYBODY that helped me get this thing into my Jeep! With EVER single thing that COULD have happened..... DID HAPPEN, I never thought that I would
ever be happy that it got in and would work the way it was/is supposed to. It was/is a VERY expensive unit (although not as expensive as many others). The Faulty install was not because of the Head Unit itself, it was because of the many, many wrong items that were sent, that were SUPPOSED to work with the unit. It really was THREE months of HELL!!! So here is the "update" on the install, along with the pictures!

    ********UPDATE*********

Well, it's IN!!! It's working, and YES........IT'S VERY COOL!!!
All the troubles were REALLY a pain in the 'ARSE! However, now that it is finished, it really is the BEST way to offer EVERYTHING needed so you don't take up any extra space, on that tiny windshield, ( I had a GPS, EZ-Pass, Handicapped Placard, and a HUGE NJ state inspection sticker! There really was NO extra room, and it was difficult to see out of what room was left!). Now the only thing that is up on the windshield is my EZ-Pass & the Placard, and that is pretty well hidden behind the RVM. So, here are the pictures of my new baby in all it's working glory!

The GPS is very clear and pretty precise in the directions, and address options.

The screen can be tilted open to use a Memory Card, or to Insert a DVD/CD

The great thing is that the screen can be tilted to pretty much ANY angle to cut down glare of the screen from outside light sources.

iPod playlists can be shuffled around in MANY more ways than the iPod even gives you for options.

The Menu shows you every option, at your finger tips. All you have to do is press that middle button on the bottom (that looks like a shuffle button), and the menu comes up to choose what you want to do. I did not however get a picture of the unit with the Split Screen up - When you have the GPS going AND want to see the Music info too. All in all----WORTH the THREE MONTHS of aggravation trying to get this unit to FIT and to WORK. Thankfully, all the problems seem to be behind us now. However if ANYTHING happens.....I will keep you all updated!

Otherwise it should be really straight forward. You have all of the harnesses that you could need which will make it all plug and play and a breeze.

The dash is EASY to take apart, just don't be afraid to yank on things. Its just plastic and can be replaced in the event that you break something.

I don't recomment fighting with the power windows, cig lighter, hvac controls, ect wires to take the front plate all the way off. You should be able to finagle it to give you plenty of room and probably save yourself 30 mins of frustration and cussing.

    Good luck and have fun!
    thanks for the help,
I still don't understand why I would have to attach (and run) a NEW antennae if there is a perfectly good one in there already.

A lot of people I know have put the GPS antenna and sirius antenna on the dash, and it works well, especially when the OEM antennas were under the hard top. On the dash is a much clearer path to the sky, I always mounted my Garmin on the dash and never lost a signal. I think it's a better option than the sound bar location, plus much easier to run the wires

Not sure what the Clarion comes with for adapters, I know there are some head units out there that will work with the sirius antenna just fine, I would just try the plug, if it fits it most likely will work, a lot of sirius antennas have the same plug, not sure, but it might be a universal thing where they are all the same, maybe someone can help me with that one.
