Default ~~~Cheap and Easy LED Rock Lights!~~~

I purchased these. hXXp://www.oznium.com/prewired-superflux

I have 2 in front and behind each tire for a total 16! At $2.99ea you cant beat that!

These LEDS are all waterproofed, with a built-in resistor and a foot of wire, so all you have to do is plug them in. LEDS use little electricity and give off virtually no heat, so you won't have to worry about a fire with these cool lights.
They are ready to go - "pre-wired" to work on any 12 volt system.

Just hook up the red wire to positive, and the black to negative (ground).

A superflux LED is square LED, with a very wide viewing angle. And our superflux LEDs have not just one, but FOUR chips in one LED for ultimate brightness. They can mount in a 11\32" hole.

Here's how it works: we glue each superflux LED into waterproof housing and pre-wire it, so it's ready to go. You simply hook up the red wire to positive and the black wire to your ground on your 12-volt system and you're in business! These lights are FOUR LEDs in one, so they're bright enough for all of your needs, and they mount in any 11\32" hole, so you can use them just about anywhere.

I used one 100ft roll of 18ga red wire and one 100ft roll of 18ga black wire.
Yes I had some left over but I did not want to come up short in the middle of the project..

UPDATE! The Rock LEDS now also turn on when I unlock the doors! This is a super easy add on! All you will need a 1n4001 Diode (Radio Shack) the diode will prevent the dome lights from turning on when you use the Rock LED toggle switch.. Diagram and new photos added..

Here's some shots during the day for location placement. Each led is pointed straight down..
Note you don't have to have 2 in each location. I just did for redundancy and extra brightness.

Definitely the nicest rock light setup that I've seen so far
I don't have any need for rock lights but I like these so much I feel like installing them just for the hell of it.

Awesome install, thanks for that idea.
I like LEDs and this looks like a fun/simple mod.

whpony, do you work for the company? It looks like you are trying to sell us something..

and it looks like they give off a good amount of light.. but I personally hate that you can see the lights themselves. Id remount everything and try and hide the LED's a bit.

No I DO NOT WORK FOR THEM! I just like helping fellow jeepers with cost efficient solutions. You can see from my other posts on HID installs and the "Rescue" badge it would be easy to to think I do work for these companies....but I don't. I just do a lot of cut copy and pasting from the original site for descriptions of the products.

Well if you mount these flush you will have a VERY hard time replacing them if you break one. The way I currently have them mounted now you simply pop them out and replace it and pop a new one in. No glue or clips at all. Just drill a 11\32 hole instead of a 3\8 hole as described. Then you'll get a nice snug fit. (I know this because I did smash one on a branch on one of our clubs last runs)

As for seeing them in the daytime you would never notice them until I pointed them out to you. And if your standing anywhere around the JK you'll never know they are there...
