Push Button Start???
Has anyone installed a push-button starter? Is it even possible with the computer? I have a stock X with no power locks or remote start or anything. Any info would be helpful.

From what I have been told. The key works just like a push button anyway. Once you engage the starter, you can let go of the key. You do not have to hold the key untill the engine starts. I have actualy become use to this in the jeep. Sometimes I do not hold the key long enough in other vehicles.

would be cool but for the time and effort
just need to cutinto the relay wire in the ignition and put in the push button should be that simple but the only snag would be that the key needs to be present for the sentry system

I actualy ran across a problem with my starter. Has not been corrected due to "NOT ABLE TO REPRODUCE". If the jeep doesn't start right away, the starter will continue to crank for 10 seconds. My jeep will eventualy start. But it pushes that 10 seconds. Does not throw up a code because it does start.

I think it's pointless to have push button ignition if you still need a key to actually make it work.
My Lexus has it and all I need to do is carry the starting fob in my pocket. As long as the fob is in proximity to some module in the car, it will start up using the push button. It also won't let you lock the doors when the car is off and the fob is still inside the car - not necessarily a usefull function in a soft top Jeep but definitely in a hard top. Mind you the whole time I don't have to place any key in an ingnition.
I also had a monster golf cart with push button ignition but it required a key to be placed inside a hidden ignition switch first. The push button is the blue button to the right of the head unit.
